On Thursday, 18 June, the Legal Service of the European Parliament invited renowned experts in the field of EU Economic Governance from academia and from the legal services of the other European institutions for a professional training on ‘The Law of the Economic Policies of the Union’. Amongst the invited experts were the Erasmus School of Law researchers Professor Dr. Fabian Amtenbrink and René Repasi.
Prof. Amtenbrink spoke about the ‘EU Monetary Policy and the developing role of the ECB: Powers, Realities and Systemic Impacts’. René Repasi’s presentation was about ‘The European Parliament between legislative procedures, ex post scrutiny and European semester process: multifaceted – but also adequate and effective? – participation in EU economic governance’. In the light of the current dynamic developments in the economic policies of the Union Amtenbrink and Repasi gave an in-depth analysis of the role of the ECB and the European Parliament in EU Economic Governance and the legal boundaries of their actions.
